Time to Support Obama

I swore awhile back that I was going to reveal who I’m supporting for the Democratic Nomination and unfortuantely, I hadn’t gotten to do that yet. My choice for Democratic candidate had been John Edwards. I liked him in 2004 and thought that this time around he really updated his platform to truly represent the working class. Unfortunately for him, the country, at least the left-leaning folks, would rather see Hillary and Barack fight it out. Personally, I like Obama too and would have loved to see an Edwards-Obama campaign, but now it looks like I might have to be satisfied with an Obama-Edwards campaign, if even that. I think that would end up being a dynamite combination and hopefully enough to blow Clinton’s campaign all to hell.
I truly hope to see John Edwards put his support behind Obama. I only wish I’d gotten the chance to vote for him in the primary, but Wisconsin’s isn’t until February 19th. So farewell, John, maybe next time.
Thanks to Yahoo! News for the info.
Happy New Year!

Well 2008 is upon us and I’d like to wish all of you a Happy New Year. Let’s hope that this year brings us all health, happiness, and the hope that somehow, someway the world and this country becomes a little bit better place to live. And I’m not just talking about the elections coming up in November, although that’s all we’re going to be hearing about for at least the next month or so.
I also hope that those of you who decided to tie one on New Year’s Eve made it home safely and with little incident. Personally, I had a great time with my wife and took a cab home at the end of the night. No need to tempt the Fates and possibly get a DUI. In Wisconsin that means 3 years of carrying SR-22 suplemental insurance.
As for resolutions, I haven’t really given much thought to them because of the high probability for failure in that regard. But I did make one that I’d like to share with all of you. I’m going to try, again, to quit smoking for good. For those who know me personally, and I’ll admit that that audience is quite small as it pertains to this site, I’m usually never without a cigarette in hand. The fact is, I love to smoke. I’ve been smoking Camel Wides Filters for the longest time and various other Camel blends before that. A few years ago I had even managed to quit smoking cold-turkey for about a year and a half. So much for that though. Well, this time is a bit different. I’ve always hated the idea of “better living through chemistry” be it doctor-prescribed medicines or otherwise. But I couldn’t resist giving Chantix a try. It’s supposed to be one of the most effective medicines on the market for quitting smoking and has, or so Pfizer says, a much higher success rate than other medicines. So wish me luck ladies and gents. As far as any other resolutions go, I resolve to have much more fun, much more family time, and God willing, much more money this year compared to last. I wish the same for all of you as well. Maybe I’ll even get a chance to meet some of you this year.
So with that all said, I wish you all the best year of your lives for 2008.
